Glycerine

Here at Laponie, we source and test all ingredients ourselves. We choose them with care, so that they work perfectly for sensitive and problem-skin. All our ingredients are natural and vegan, and we aim to meet and know all of the producers personally. For every product, we provide a full breakdown of all the ingredients and explain why they are included.

Glycerine

Glycerine is one of the most common ingredients in skincare, and is used in pretty much all kinds of products. Hydrating ingredients are used in cosmetic products to slow down moisture loss from the product itself and to increase the moisture content of skin.

This function is generally performed by humectants, which work by absorbing water from their surroundings. Glycerine is one of the most most common and most versatile humectants. It hydrates and protects the skin, accelerates skin barrier recovery, slows down TEWL (trans-epidermal water-loss) and has anti-microbial properties.

Glycerine hydrates for a long time and at a wide range of humidity conditions. Cosmetic grade glycerine is either synthetic or plant-derived, and in this case usually made from palm, coconut or olive. We favour a variety made from European rapeseed.

Glycerine has been shown to have excellent skin tolerability and treatment.

We use glycerine in our Mild Milk CleanserGentle Gel CleanserBalancing Essence MistLight Face Cream, 2-in-1 Hydrating Face Mask & CreamRenewing Serum and Calming Serum.
