Laponie User Stories: Anu & Dry, congested & reactive skin

Laponie was born out of our founder Kristina’s need to find products for her sensitive and challenging skin, and now our mission is to help you take care of your skin the right way. We recently asked our customers to take part in a three-week-long Laponie test group, in which we created a customised and individual, daily skincare routine to tackle different skin issues and problems. This is Anu’s story about how she found help in our products for her sensitive and reactive skin, which is also prone to dryness.

“I’m a 43-year-old woman, and I’ve always had sensitive, reactive and surface-dry skin (or I’ve thought I’ve had surface-dry skin, but during the test period I realised it’s actually really dry). During the day, my face has gotten overly oily, and in the evening, after taking off makeup, my skin’s felt tight.

A part of the problem is my endometriosis, which is treated with hormones, which for me causes hormonal fluctuations and breakouts. Sometimes my skin is better (dry, but not broken out) and sometimes it’s worse, when my skin is both dry and broken out and uneven-textured, and blotchy. In addition to the effects of my endometriosis treatments my skin has begun to show signs of aging (thin lines around the eyes and mouth). The Northern climate also adds some challenges: in the Summer my skin is in better shape, and more even.

During the test period, I’ve cleansed my face (and my neck and decolletage) with the Milk Cleanser both AM and PM. After cleansing, I’ve misted my face with the Balancing Essence, and after this, I’ve applied the Calming Serum. Aftter this, I’ve applied the Face Cream, and as the last step, I’ve patted in 3-4 drops of Face Oil. Once a week, I’ve used the Hydrating Face Mask & Cream as a mask. I’ve also used the Serum and the Cream around the eyes.

In the beginning of the test period I was worried that all the products wouldn’t absorb porperly, but. Not once has my face gotten shiny. They’ve sunk in at once. I’ve come to the conclusion, that my skin’s apparently been superdry for a very long time; now my skin is better, but I’ll continue with the same routine to get even better results.

Another thing I worried about in the beginning was the skin around my eyes, and not using a separate eye cream. The descriptions for the Serum and the Cream said that both can be used around the eyes, and to my rather great surprise, the skin around my eyes looks better than after expensive eye creams.

My skin felt softer already after the first few days, but after two weeks the flakiness and roughness on my forehead had disappeared. My skin is more even, smoother and softer, and my pores and lines aren’t as visible  (the biggest change is on my forehead). The redness has decreased (and I had a lot of that especially on the cheeks and around the nose), and I haven’t experienced heating sensations as much as before. My makeup’s gone on better, as flaking has been reduced. On my decolletage, I’ve noticed the same effects as on my face, but especially that I have less breakouts. After cleansing my skin doesn’t feel as tight as before. The biggest miracle is the softness and smoothness of my my skin.”
