Minimalistic skincare and minimalistic skincare routines

We at Laponie believe that less is more when it comes to skincare, and especially when dealing with sensitive and problem skin. For us, minimalist skincare means a few, combinable and multifunctional products with a minimum of ingredients and simple packaging.

What does minimalistic skin care mean?

A few, simple products. We’ve created a paired back series - reducing the amount of products can be an excellent first aid for sensitive and problem skin. Our Core line includes six simple products developed around three basic blocks of skincare: cleanse, hydrate and care (and protect).

Multifunctional products. For us, minimalist products also mean multifunctional products. Our products can be used on their own, combined to form routines or together with your favourites from other brands – use what you need, when you need it.  Versatility is also important to us -  our products can be used all over the body.

A small amount of ingredients. We are ingredients minimalists. We always use a minimum of ingredients in our products, without compromising on quality or functionality. Fewer ingredients (and the right kind) tend to serve sensitive and problem skin better.

All of our products are developed without added fragrances, and some products are completely fragrance-free. All of our ingredients are vegan and plant-based, and we source them as locally and sustainably as possible, always focusing on their quality and suitability for sensitive and problem skin.

Simple packaging. Our packaging philosophy is quite simple in terms of both materials and appearance - we prioritise practical design and recyclable materials. That is why 8/9 of our products are packaged at max 100 ml, in aluminum and glass, keeping plastic to a minimum.  Our outer packaging is made of cardboard. All our packaging materials are recyclable!

2 product skin care routine

With this minimalist two-product skin care routine, you’ll cleanse, hydrate and care for sensitive, dry or oily skin. The simple skincare routine includes our gentle Milk Cleanser or our mild but deep cleansing Gel Cleanser, and our moisturising and lightly nourishing Face Cream. You'll find the Simple Routine for Dry Skin and the Simple Routine for Oily Skin in our webshop.

How to: Cleanse your skin morning and evening with the Milk or Gel. Always apply the cleansers to dry skin (without water) in a circular motion and then rinse with water (The Milk can also be wiped off with face tissue or cotton pads, without rinsing), and finally dry skin with a towel, patting gently. To complete your skin care routine, apply the Face Cream to your face and around the eyes.

Milk Cleanser

Our gentle Milk Cleanser cleansing milk is made from nourishing canola oil, moisturising plant-based glycerin and xylitol sugar, which conditions skins and has anti-bacterial properties. The Milk gently and effectively removes oil, dirt and makeup. Your skin will feel fresh and soft.

Gel Cleanser

Gentle deep cleansing without drying – that’s our low-foaming Gel Cleanser in a nutshell. It dissolves impurities and makeup with an effective and skin-friendly plant-based surfactant. Conditioning sugar beet extract and xylitol leave the skin clean without tightness.

Face Cream

This light gel-cream combo moisturises skin with plant-based glycerin and sodium PCA. Contains colloidal oatmeal to prevents moisture loss, and canola, oat and poppy seed oil nourish and soften the skin. Thanks to its composition, our Face Cream is suitable for both oily skin and dry skin.

3 product skin care routine

With this easy three-product skin care routine, you’ll cleanse, hydrate and care for sensitive dry or oily skin with three products. This routine is especially suitable for those looking for a routine lower on preservatives. Check out our 3 step Routine for Dry Skin and 3 step Routine for Oily Skin in our webshop.

How to: Cleanse your skin morning and evening with our Milk Cleanser or Gel Cleanser. Always apply the cleansers to dry skin (without water) in a circular motion and then rinse with water (The Milk can also be wiped off with face tissue or cotton pads, without rinsing), and finally dry skin with a towel, patting gently. After cleansing, balance, hydrate and soothe skin with our Face Toner - spray or apply to your skin, and add more layers if your skin needs extra hydration. Finally, complete your skincare routine by patting 1-4 drops (whatever your skin needs) of our Face Oil on your face while skin is still slightly damp from the Toner. This is a great option when you want a routine where you minimise preservatives - our oil is completely preservative-free.

Face Toner

A toner is a great wat to finalise cleansing, balance the pH of the skin and help other care products to be better absorbed. Our Face Toner balances, hydrates, soothes and conditions sensitive and problem skin with multifunctional, natural ectoin, smoothing sea kelp and soothing licorice root. Face Oil

A good oil is your skin’s best friend - it helps lock in moisture by slowing down water-loss. Our easily absorbed and nourishing Face Oil is a blend of four, pure plant-oils: repairing argan oil, softening oat oil, soothing raspberry seed oil and regenerating rosehip oil - nothing else. The oil leaves the skin feeling nourished, with a nearly matte finish.

Thanks to its composition, our face oil is suitable for both sensitive dry and oily, acne-prone skin. Why? Because it all depends on the fatty acid profile of an individual oil and how different oils are combined. Oils that contain a high amount of linoleic acid are suitable for acne prone skin and oilier skin types,  while oils with a higher amount of oleic acid are suitable for treating dry skin. In our Face Oil, we have used both linoleic and oleic acid oils: rosehip and raspberry have a high amount of linoleic acid, and they balance out the argan, which again has a little more oleic acid. In oat oil, the distribution between linoleic and oleic acids is almost 50/50.
