Cleansing
For most skins, your regular, or winter, cleanser is still fine. Skin will start adjusting a bit to warmer temperatures, but not in the same way as in summer, when it's hit with heat and humidity.
So continue using the Milk, Gel or Oil Cleanser as before. If you feel you need to take off dead, dry skin left from winter, our hot tip is our Gentle Gel Cleanser: it doubles as a very mild exfoliant. Simply apply to clean, dry skin and let sit for 10 minutes before rinsing off. You can also try our Cleansing & Balancing Mask for a deeper refresh.
Hydration versus oils
Spring usually means quite varying weather, and much like when going towards fall from summer, skin may be a bit of balancing out trying to decide if it should produce more oil or not (to adjust to temperature change).
For spring, we can usually go towards a lighter moisturiser. You can either switch to our Light Face Cream or use more of our Balancing Essence and slightly less of our Softening Face Oil, if you're using that combo (our hot tip for sensitised/reactive skin).
If you've been a fan of our Hydrating Face Mask & Cream for winter and still fell dry, you can give skin a hydrating treat a few times a week: apply a thickish layer of the Mask to clean skin, rinse off and follow with your other care products.
Treat: Red bumps around the mouth, nose, and eyes, and sallow skin
Spring is often when perioral dermatitis, i.e., those non-acne red bumps around the mouth, nose, and eyes, acts up for those of us prone to it. Our go-to is the Calming Serum, which has been formulated to soothe redness and irritation, while also helping leaky bumps heal, thanks to the madecassoside and rhamnose it contains. Apply to clean skin before any oil-based care products. And remember: If you're prone to POD, make sure you go easy on harsh exfoliants, as they can make POD go nuts. The Calming Serum paired with the Balancing Essence is also great for soothing skin reacting to dust and pollen.
If skin is looking sallow and tired after winter, try our Renewing Serum, which true to its name will brighten sensitive and problem skin the gentle way. It's also great for tackling fine lines. Apply to clean skin before other oil-based products.
Sunscreen
We hope you use sunscreen year-round, but if not, this is definitively the time to break it out. The spring sun and light is merciless on winter skin, which has been living in the dark. If you don't know what you reach for, check out our sensitive and problem skin sunscreen ABC here for a quick 101.
